MADDOW v. ROBINSON

This is an interview that Rachel Maddow conducted with Art Robinson, the Republican candidate for US House in OR-4 two weeks ago.

Now, don’t worry, fivethirtyeight.com has given incumbent Peter DeFazio a 99.54% of winning the race.

The reason why he was featured on The Rachel Maddow Show was because of the scarcity of Republican candidates to be interviewed on the show and their willingness to defend their positions.

Don’t see my point?

Just watch
PART 1

PART 2

ANALOGY TIME

I am in a bit of a baseball mood with the recent success of the Texas Rangers in the playoffs. They currently lead the American League Championship Series against the Evil Empire New York Yankees 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.

It has allowed me this observation during the political season…

When a Republican is interviewed on Fox News…

When that same Republican is interviewed by a LEGITIMATE news organization…

This is the issue that the current slate of Republican candidates is facing.

The likes of Sharron Angle, Ken Buck, Christine O’Donnell, Rand Paul, and yes even Rick Perry here in Texas have avoided legitimate media by claiming there is a liberal spin and they are trying to trap them.

They can’t defend their positions, past or present, when confronted about them by those that are willing to ask the tough questions.

Mr. Robinson was clearly unable to defend his positions from a paper he wrote 15 years ago. Instead, he claimed that the interviewer was trying to smear him.

How?

Ms. Maddow did research and was asking him questions about whom he is and WHY voters should consider voting Republican in 2010. He did not explain who he was, nor why he was really running for Congress. Instead it turned into shout fest.

He should have taken a page from Sharron Angle’s playbook…

Or, just refuse to meet with newspaper editorial boards as Rick Perry has.

Or, take a page from the master…

And quit politics and join Fox News.
