ADVOCATING TREASON 101

Stephen Broden, a Dallas pastor running on the Republican ticket as a candidate for US House in TX-30, has this to say if his party does not get their way in the upcoming mid-term elections.

Now, don’t worry, this fool will not win election. Nate Silver of fivethirtyeight.com has given incumbent Eddie Bernice Johnson a 99.98% chance of winning.

But yes, we have elected officials and candidates advocating ARMED REBELLION against the elected government of the United States of America if they don’t get their way.

These are acts of desperation. Republicans are using fear and threats of violence in order to get their way. It is almost sad and downright childish.

However, such language is despicable and offensive to someone who has worn the uniform and served this country.

An elected official advocating the violent overthrow of the United States government is treason.

Since the start of early voting, there have been some reports of such intimidation happening.

Recently, the Yuma office of Representative Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ 7) was mailed a letter containing swastikas and an unknown white powder which was later determined to be non-toxic. This is not the first instance in which the congressman was threatened with violence. In April, Grijalva had to close two offices for an afternoon after receiving threats due to his position on AZ SB 1070. Then in July, a bullet shattered his Yuma office.

Here on the state level, there are reports from the Houston area about Tea Baggers intimidating voters. KTRK-TV ABC-13 and Stace Medellin of DosCentavos.net echo these reports.

In order to keep these goons from representing us, we must answer by going to the voting booth and electing candidates who want to take this country forward, not backward.

And to those who advocate this Sharon Angle ideology of what will happen if you don’t get your way… YOU will be held accountable per our legal system for any violence created by your rhetoric.
