2014 NFL SEASON WEEK 1

Changes from last season: Kickoff is MOUNTAIN TIME and games airing in Denver area are noted with (DEN).

MUST WATCH GAMES

Packers at Seahawks

Of course the first game of the season. Last season, Seattle went 7-1 at home. Green Bay needed to win on the last Sunday of the regular season to get into the playoffs.

Two years ago this game prompted the return of the regular referees after the replacement referees awarded the Seahawks a touchdown on what was an apparent Packers interception on Seattle's Hail Mary attempt at the end of the game.

The play is commonly referred to as the Fail Mary.

Seattle made the playoffs that season and made it into the NFC divisional round. Green Bay made the playoffs too, but the loss dropped them to the NFC's 3-seed and placed them in San Francisco for the divisional round.

Yeah, it's not like that game had any impact on the playoffs at all.

Saints at Falcons

The Falcons opened last season in New Orleans. Atlanta lost the game 27-23 and opened the season on a 5 game losing streak. The Saints made a return to the playoffs and won the franchise's first ever road playoff game.

The Falcons would like to return the favor in Week 1.

49ers at Cowboys

Do you love the 90s? Dallas-San Francisco was the NFC Championship Game matchup for three consecutive seasons. Dallas won the 1992 and 1993 NFC Championship while San Francisco won in 1994. The winner of those games went on to win the Super Bowl. Historically both teams have combined for 10 Super Bowl wins and 14 NFC Championships.

In recent seasons San Francisco has been to three consecutive NFC Title Games and made a Super Bowl appearance. As for Dallas, they have played in three consecutive season-ending win-and-you're-in-the-playoffs and three times they have lost.

Both teams are eying a return to greatness.

Colts at Broncos

Last season Peyton Manning made his return to Indianapolis since departing the team in 2012 to sign with Denver.

The game was viewed as Andrew Luck's arrival party as he passed for 2 touchdowns and ran in another score to hand the Broncos their first loss of the 2013 season.

Denver is looking for redemption after their blowout in Super Bowl XLVIII. Like last season the Colts proved they could play with the best teams when they defeated both the Seahawks and Broncos, the two teams that played in the recent Super Bowl.

Giants at Lions/Chargers at Cardinals

Both games feature teams looking to improve upon their 2013 fortunes. The Lions started 2013 strong but finished 1-7 while the Giants started 0-6 and were playing spoiler the rest of 2013. The Chargers made the playoffs, but the Cardinals missed out despite winning 10 games.

And now the picks. One thing that is the same from last season picks are indicated in BOLD.

Good luck to MonicaLuke in their picks.
