ALL WE GOT IS TIME (By Isidro Gonzales)

Will “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” be repealed by years end?

Note: I’ve decided to blog about Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (DADT) till it’s either repealed or taken off the table.

This just in...Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has decided to release the DADT report early. A day early that is. According to a Washington Post article on Sunday, the decision was made to “support Congress’ wish to consider repeal before they adjourn.”

What I don’t understand is why just one day when, Congress or rather the Senate had been asking for the release of the study as early as a month ago when the leak was first being reported to as late as last Monday when Senators Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collins(R-ME) sent a letter. At the time, the report came out it was suggested that this leak would alter the landscape of the upcoming elections in favor of repeal. Well, we all know how that turned out…. but that’s another rant for another time.

So now that all the “ducks” have been lined up in terms of votes all that remains now is time.

Does this latest revelation add more time for the Senate to deliver to us what was promised almost a year ago in President Barack Obama’s state of the Union Address?
