WALL STREET: ALPHABET REVIEW
I am sure everyone heard about the sudden tumble that Wall Street took on Thursday.
There is concern about the Greek economy and the potential fallout it could have between the US and countries that have the Euro as a currency. Also concerns about the Greek economy have had an impact on the UK Elections that I have been following intently.
Apparently, here is what caused that 15 minute one thousand point tumble: A trader with Proctor & Gamble punched in $16 Billion instead of $16 Million.
Apparently colleges that have business undergrad programs need to incorporate a semester course toward teaching the alphabet.
Let's review shall we of the difference of ONE letter.
One MILLION = A 1 followed by SIX zeros = 1,000,000 = 1 x 106
One BILLION = A 1 followed by NINE zeros = 1,000,000,000 = 1 x 109
A BILLION is 1000 times LARGER than a MILLION.
1,000,000,000/1,000,000 = (1 x 109) / (1 x 106) = 1,000 = 1 x 103
A MILLION is 1000 times SMALLER than a BILLION.
1,000,000 /1,000,000,000 = (1 x 106) / (1 x 109) = 0.001 = 1 x 10-3
Just in case you don't understand the difference between the letters B and M, here is a review.
This is the letter B.
This is the letter M.
Still don't understand?
B.B. King and some fellow Muppets can help explain the letter B.
And this clever Law and Order spoof can help explain the letter M.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard displays very well where these letters are located in the alphabet.
I mean….. REALLY?!?

Shocking. How could a Wall Street MBA screw up two of the three letters of his degree? It's the only letters that have any importance to them at all. It's not like LAW or FAIR or any other set of letters that are completrely foreign to them . . .
Wait. This Michael's Rant, not mine. So sorry. Carry on.
This is probably the only rant you could watch with your kids.
Plus did you notice who sang the ABC song with the Muppets? Kinda funny that I selected that video.
