2013 NFL SEASON WEEK 11

And then there were none.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not match the win total of their 1976 team when they went 0-14. The Jacksonville Jaguars won their first game of the season as well. They're both still terrible, but the good news is that no team will try to duplicate what the 2008 Lions did and go winless.

There is still one team left among the unbeaten ranks: Kansas City. I think folks knew they would be better, but start the season 9-0? I didn't.

Speaking of losing, Dallas got trounced in Louisiana. Mark Ingram, who has failed to live up to expectations as a Heisman Trophy winning running back, rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown. The Dallas defense gave up 625 yards which was the most.... since their Week 8 loss to the Lions.

As usual the Dallas sports media begins asking the questions about who is to blame but we all know who it is in the end.

Jerry Jones

Why doesn't this guy fire his general manager?! Who is the GM of this team?!

Oh.... right...

Right now Dallas is 5-5 and heading into the bye week. There are six games left. Dallas might end up winning the NFC East by default because the rest of the division is awful. And then they get curb stomped by the NFC West division runner-up either the Seahawks or the 49ers as part of their run to a Super Bowl title.

Or.... Dallas wins their final five, make the playoffs as the 3-seed, defeat the Saints in the NFC Title Game, and end up hoisting their 6th Vince Lombardi Trophy on a mild New Jersey winter evening this coming February.

Right... and monkeys will fly out of my butt.

Well, if there is an upside at least we aren't the Texans.

On the bye week topic: The other team is the Rams. The bye week comes at an opportune time as after this week, there will be 6 games left in the season and it could make the difference between the Cowboys making the playoffs or spending another off-season wondering what could've been. Oh and if you have any Cowboys on your fantasy roster, please adjust your fantasy team as needed. I cannot stress that enough.

The games this coming weekend is the start of the playoff run for most teams. The Colts can widen their AFC South lead over the Titans in Nashville this evening. Sunday's early games features the Eagles hosting the Redskins. A Philadelphia win would put them ahead of idle Dallas and give them the season sweep over Washington. So far Eagles quarterback Nick Foles since earning the starting job has yet to throw an interception.

Right now the Jets would be in the playoffs while the Bills hopes to make the playoffs are fading. Meanwhile the Chargers travel to Miami as both teams look to get to .500. A loss for either of those teams could spell doom for their postseason prospects.

The Ravens might not make the playoffs. A win against the injury plagued Bears could help them. Baltimore needed overtime to survive the Bengals last Sunday.

This is the first Sunday featuring a flex game. Since obtaining the NFL's Sunday Night package in 2006, NBC has the option of selecting a more competitive matchup from only the Sunday games for their telecast. When the schedule is released in April, the selection of when games air is usually based on last season's results. But sometimes those matchups don't pan out as expected. Take the originally planned Sunday Night game of Packers at Giants. Well, the Packers lived up to expectations until Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone and are now struggling with quarterback issues. Meanwhile the Giants started the season 0-6, but have won their last 3 to pull within 2 games of NFC East leaders Dallas and Philadelphia and could emerge at the top of the dumpster fire the division.

NBC in probably one of their best television moves in a long time asked to have the Chiefs at Broncos flexed to primetime. After this week, NBC will feature the Broncos at Patriots in another edition of Peyton vs. Brady and on Thanksgiving Night the Steelers traveling to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. NBC might get another game flexed if the Redskins and Giants respective seasons continue to tank, but they might keep it because it is the NFC East and those games usually get a good audience.

The 49ers return to New Orleans for the first time since February. The last time they were there was for their 34-31 loss to the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII. This time they are taking on the hometown Saints who demolished the Cowboys on national television. The audience is a tad smaller (the game is on Fox), but it will have the feeling of a playoff game. It would not surprise me if these teams met again in January like they did back in the 2011 playoffs.

Monday night has the Patriots traveling to Charlotte to take on the Panthers. This should be a good one.

Ms. Roberts and I finished 6-8 while that lucky S.O.B our good friend Mr. Blake ended up 9-5. I'm in second place back 4 games while Ms. Roberts has a good hold on third place and bringing up the rear are the 1974-75 Washington Capitals, 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers, 1962 New York Mets, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Houston Astros.

And we have gotten word that the Astros have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Michael: your math is bad. I went 9-6 same as you guys last week. The nine winners I had were the Buccaneers, Eagles, Bears, Bengals, Cardinals, Seahawks, Saints, Giants and Panthers.

Since we disagreed on four games, it was mathematically impossible for me to lose one game to you. In fact, in the games we disagreed on we went 2-2, but if you'd won three of those you'd have gained two games, not one.
