The
Boy Scouts of America are currently undergoing their decision to lift the ban
on allowing gay members to openly participate.
Here
is my take on it:
If
the military can allow gays and lesbians to serve openly, then surely the
civilian sector can follow suit.
Here
is another
one that follows that same line of thinking from a mother with a son who is
an Eagle Scout. She is also an active duty military officer.
A primary reason Baden Powell formed
the Scouts was to provide training to young men that would prepare them for
military service and leadership. It is
the policy of the United States military that gay men and women are accepted
and valued within the ranks at all levels.
If the Boy Scouts want to continue preparing young men for military
service, then they need to align their policy with the military's.
One
more person on this subject:
She's
right.
There
are far more important things to worry about than someone's sexual orientation.
